PC board manufacturing machines use a squeegee to control the thickness of solder applied to the board. The force of the squeegee must be constant in this very sensitive application.

High resolution and repeatability is a must. This sketch shows QPV1s controlling pressure on Air-Pel cylinders. These are friction-free glass lined cylinders used to control force on the squeegee. They achieve this “friction-free” state by allowing some air to constantly escape. This makes the pneumatic force application a “constant flowing” process, which is ideal for the QPV at these flow rates.

Thick film ceramic manufacturing has a similar squeegee application requirement. The QPV1 is idea for both applications because of its high resolution (as high as +/-0.005% of full scale) and its repeatability of +/-0.02% of full scale calibration.
