In orthopedic surgery, the amount of tissue to be removed is set by the vacuum level. In this surgical knife sketch, a QB3 command to set the vacuum level is provided by a foot pedal. This allows the surgeon to make small or large incisions as necessary.
The QB3 electro-pneumatic pressure regulator controls vacuum directly inline with the vacuum pump. By plumbing the vacuum pump to the exhaust port of the QB3, the exhaust valve controls downstream vacuum to the process. Since the QB3 offers high forward and reverse flow rates, the response time is quick and highly repeatable.
The foot pedal in this sketch is a custom made potentiometer that Proportion-Air can help design or build for your application as well.
