Pressure Control in a Diecast Furnace

A Proportion-Air QB2 is providing pressure control to a diecast furnace in this molten metal application. The FCV is controlling flow on the exhaust side to maintain cooling in this process. This procedure can be complicated,  considering the heat and low tolerance for pressure variations.

Many diecast processes use pressure to force alloy into a mold. In most cases, pressure is profiled on both the increase and decrease phases. Since the gas is hot, an FCV is used for the exhaust phase. By controlling flow on the output, cooling can be maintained in the mold, as well.
