Pressure Control in a Diecast Furnace

A Proportion-Air QB2 is providing back pressure pressure control to a diecast furnace in this molten metal application. The FCV is controlling flow on the inlet side to maintain cooling in this process. This procedure can be complicated,  considering the heat and low tolerance for pressure variations.

Many diecast processes use pressure to force alloy into a mold. In most cases, pressure is profiled on both the increase and decrease phases. Since the gas is hot, an FCV is used. By controlling flow on the input, cooling can be maintained in the mold, as well.
