In this plastic injection molding application, we look at how a simple plumbing modification can greatly improve the response time.

We are controlling air pressure into a bottle mold in a plastic injection process. A remote sense tube is plumbed in to the process to improve response time. The speed of response was improved by nearly 3 seconds (from 3.680 seconds to 0.880 seconds), filling a 20-gallon air volume to 5 psig.

The remote sense line provided the volume booster with feedback further downstream. This had two profound effects on the pressure:

1. Pressure was much more stable during the entire process.

2. Pressure was achieved much quicker in the bottle mold itself.

Note: The QB1 is piloting a RM-Series in this particular application. However, a QB2 would normally be recommended for this application, instead of the remote sense line.
