Nip roll control requires adjustable force based on the amount of force required to laminate components. An electronic proportional regulator sized for the amount of force required and the speed of adjustment allows force to be changed on the fly from a PLC or computer. Tight nip control requires fast response and repeatable pressure control.

In this sketch, a QB3 is maintaining force on the nip rollers during the laminating process. The QB3 has high forward and reverse flow, thus it can respond quickly to add or relieve pressure so that exact force is maintained throughout the process. The monitor output signal allows for a signal back into the controller for data acquisition.
