In aircraft manufacturing, most components need to be tested for stress they would encounter during flight. The fuselage stress test aims to simulate constantly changing atmospheric conditions and their affects on the fuselage over time. The challenge in this type of testing is the large volume that must be pressurized and exhausted, as quick as possible.
For this customer, Proportion-Air provided a 2 regulator setup with 4″ pressure reducing valve controlling the fill of the fuselage and another 4″ back pressure valve relieving pressure. Both large dome-loaded regulators are controlled electronically via the pilot operating on the dome.
The faster the customer is able to perform this test, the faster they can get product to market. Proportion-Air provided both speed and repeatability for this application.
