In this application the customer needed to mix a fire suppression foam with water. The water to foam mixture needed to be adjustable as well. The QB2 proportional regulator connected to the DST controlled pressure to the atmospheric reference port of the QB1.
The QB1 was used to air pilot a dome-loaded BD water regulator. As water pressure sensed by the DST changed, the air output of the QB2 automatically changed on the fly – allowing the QB1 to maintain the controller-adjustable water-to-foam ratio.
Differential pressure control applications such as this are commonly needed and easily accomplished using a Proportion-Air electronic proportional regulator.
