F-Series
The F-series Mass Flow Transducer is a fast response flow monitor for all noble gases. The F-series uses a differential pressure measurement of air flowing across an internal venturi. The analog electronic circuit converts the differential pressure to an electronic output that is linear to the mass flow rate of air passing through the venturi. The combination of differential pressure with analog electronics makes for a fast response flow measurement. The F-series mass flow transducer may be coupled to a variety of Proportion-Air electronic flow control valves to make a complete factory calibrated flow control package.
The F-Series is available in multiple port sizes (1/4″ to 1-1/2″) and 3 distinct models: FR, FP and FA – more information on each model below.

Flow Transducer Models
with subtle differences and important implications
FR
PRESSURE REGULATED
FR Model | This F-series mass flow transducer is a pressure regulated flow monitor that provides flow measurement in real-time – less than 10ms. This model requires a known and fixed regulated supply pressure to maintain its calibration. By regulating the input pressure, the incoming density of the gas is known and the FR model output is calibrated for that density.
*Requires a known and regulated inlet pressure
FP
PRESSURE COMPENSATED
FP Model | This F-series flow monitor has a 2nd transducer that measures the absolute pressure of the incoming gas. This allows the unit to compensate for changes in gas density due to changes in pressure. The FP model can compensate from 50% to 100% of the maximum calibrated absolute supply pressure, as called out in the part number.
*Need to know the max potential inlet pressure
FA
ATMOSPHERIC
FA Model | This F-series flow monitor must have its output port open to atmosphere to work properly. It is calibrated for the density of gas at atmosphere. The FA model is most commonly used to meter out gas in cylinder speed control applications. The FA model must be paired with an FQPV, FQB3 or FQB2 to control cylinder speed.
*Designed for cylinder speed control
