The Halfway Point

According to the calendar, our student team has reached the halfway point – Gate 3 – on their pneumatic lab capstone project.

That halfway point is a big one for Purdue Polytechnic Institute capstone teams. Our team joined 30 other capstone groups in the Purdue Memorial Union last week. Each team presented a poster that showcased how far they’d come in the past four months.

And they’ve come far. As you’ll read in the individual features, each student started the project knowing that he or she wanted more hands-on experience in pneumatic controls. After a semester of research and planning, they’ve come together to select three labs to redesign, making a more engaging introductory fluid power class at Purdue.

While the first gates were steeped in planning, now they’ll dig deep into the creation process. The focus turns to generating a product, making interactive labs that cover all the subject matter necessary for students to grasp and use the three lab objectives.

With a long holiday break nearly upon them (it’s finals week in West Lafayette), we thought we’d give a better introduction to our team. All four of them have hometowns within a few miles of our office in McCordsville, Indiana.
