Hazardous location valves from Proportion-Air are Factory Mutual (FM) approved for hazardous areas. Rugged, vibration proof, and closed-loop for long term stability. Available in NEC Class I, II, III Div 1 Groups C-G and Class I and II Div 2 Groups C-G. Perfect for controlling low flow static applications in hazardous location areas or for providing a pilot signal to a pilot operated regulator to achieve higher flow rates under dynamic conditions.

Proportion-Air offers several FM approved hazardous location valves. For more information visit our FAQ.
The ISQBF is FM approved Nonincendive with intrinsically safe process connections.
The ISQBX is FM approved Intrinsically Safe with intrinsically safe barriers.

There are two additional options for higher flow applications.
The ISQB3 is a FM approved Intrinsically Safe version of our QB3 pressure regulator.
The ISQB4 is a FM approved Intrinsically Safe version of our QB4 pressure regulator.

Legacy Hazardous Location Products
Available for replacement only
The ISF is FM approved Nonincendive with intrinsically safe process connections.
The ISQB is FM approved Intrinsically Safe with intrinsically safe barriers.

“Intrinsically Safe,” “Explosion Proof” and “Nonincendive” are methods of protection against damage or loss of life resulting of ignition of a combustible atmosphere.

Intrinsically Safe, as a method of protection, limits the energy available in the hazardous (classified) area so under normal operation or with a fault(s) present an ignition and resulting explosion and fire cannot occur. Our intrinsically safe products are approved for Class I, II, III, Division 1, Groups C-G.

Nonincendive is a method of protection in which any spark or thermal effect, produced under normal operating conditions, is incapable of causing ignition of a specified mixture of flammable or combustible material in air. Our nonincendive products are approved for Class I, II, Division 2, Groups C-G.

Explosion Proof, as a method of protection, completely contains any explosion and fire and quenches the resulting high temperature gases to prevent ignition to the surrounding atmosphere.

A Division 1 location is one in which ignitable concentrations of flammable gases, vapors, dust, filings or fibers may be present as a result of:

  1. They exist under normal operating conditions.
  2. They exist frequently because of repair, maintenance operations or leakage.
  3. Breakdown or faulty operation of equipment or process.

A Division 2 location is one in which ignitable concentrations of flammable liquids, gases, dust, filings or fibers may be present as a result of:

  1. Accidental rupture or breakdown of the normally closed equipment.
  2. A failure or abnormal operation of the venting equipment.
  3. Being located adjacent to a Division 1 location from which ignitable concentrations of gases, vapors, dust, filings or fibers may might occasionally be communicated.
